Well, here it is – the end of July and we as a club will soon celebrate our 9th year since charter.
Our journey through these years has seen many people come and go – this is the nature of Toastmasters. Our members join for many reasons and meet many of their own challenges and personal goals. Some join to find confidence and poise, others just to expand their educational experiences and this allows them to instruct, inform or present themselves in a more professional manner. Others join just to find fellowship and learn from the many and varied club members. You never really know who a Toastmaster is until you attend a meeting or two.
Since our last news article, we have had a Changeover Luncheon, a change of Executive and soon a change of venue. We also have been acknowledging the many personal achievements for some of our club members.
Speeches have been presented, manuals have been filled and now we can applaud all of the hard work and recognise the successes of our fellow members.
At our last meeting, Deborah Robins was presented with her Advanced Communicator BRONZE – this saw her complete 10 evaluated speeches at club level. She also completed another 2 manuals from the Advanced Communications Series.
Our newly elected President, Marg Cortis was presented with her Competent Communicator Badge at our changeover of executive luncheon last month.
Our Vice President of Education was also presented with her Advanced Communicator SILVER. Yes you guessed it – Bonnie also conducted and presented 2 presentations from the Better Speaking Series.
Throughout this year, our small club has achieved a lot and also has been very active in hosting and visiting conferences with our area. Time, distance and costs will always impact on our members visiting more, but we have all benefitted from a bit of exposure outside our own club meetings.
As I said previously, we will be on the move shortly – lookout for our posters around town with the venue location – our meeting day and time will remain the same.
